Tavistock (NZ) (Montjeu {Ire}), who has emerged as one of the most exciting young sires in Australasia, will stand the 2016 season at Sir Patrick Hogan's Cambridge Stud in New Zealand for a fee of NZ$65,000, Hogan told The Informant. The 11-year-old Tavistock, who stood for just NZ$7,000 two years ago, has sired Australian Classic winners Tarzino (NZ), Tavago (NZ) and Volkstok'n'barrel (NZ), as well as Werther (NZ), the eye-catching winner of last weekend's G1 Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup in Hong Kong.
“It's been a very difficult exercise in arriving at a fee that reflects the tremendous success of his first two crops as well as being fair to broodmare owners,” Hogan told The Informant. “Mind you, that's second only to the other side of the equation, sorting through the hundreds of service applications and deciding who's in and who's not.”
Tavistock covered 211 mares last year at a fee of NZ$15,000.
