Monomoy Girl, two-for-two over turf to start her career, took to dirt with alacrity and dominated the Rags to Riches S. at Churchill Downs. Rallying strongly to a 3 3/4-length graduation first out Sept. 5 at Indiana Grand, the $100,000 Keeneland September graduated showed versatility in wiring a local optional claiming field 23 days later. Made the 3-1 second choice in this main track bow, the chestnut broke sharply to set the pace through honest fractions of :22.73 and :45.86. Shaking off her closest pursuer turning into the lane, it briefly appeared as though Queen Mum would produce a challenge, but Monomoy Girl had plenty left and slammed the door by the eighth pole en route to a decisive score.
