Unbeaten in a pair of starts at Doomben and Hawkesbury in early 2016 when under the care of Gary Moore, Hostwin Galaxy (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}) returned from a 7 1/2-month absence to win two starts on the bounce at this track and was the 1-4 favorite to remain perfect last weekend. Trapped out for a good deal of the backstretch run, Hostwin Galaxy eventually found room to get down onto the fence, came back out with 400m to travel and raced away to a 2 1/2-length victory for visiting jockey Manoel Nunes (video). The winner's dam carried the silks of Team Valor to victory in the 2005 G2 Golden Slipper in South Africa and was later placed in the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas and G1 Majorca S. She subsequently made four starts in the U.S. while trained by Neil Drysdale, including a victory in the GIII Monrovia H. Alexandra Rose is the dam of the 2-year-old Oleksandra (Aus) (Animal Kingdom) as well as a yearling colt by the G1 Dubai World Cup winner. She was most recently bred to Olympic Glory (Ire) (Choisir {Aus}).
