Mia Mischief aired by 16 1/4 lengths at Keeneland second time out before finishing second in Churchill's Juvenile Filly Stallion S. Oct. 29. Back in the winner's circle at the Louisville oval Nov. 25, she received a brief breather and returned with a close-up second in the Jan. 20 Dixie Belle S. at Oaklawn. Well supported while galloping home an easy 8 1/4-length winner in Oaklawn's Purple Martin S. Mar. 24, the bay was installed the 3-2 choice to make it two straight. Narrowly in front from the start, Mia Mischief reeled off splits of :22.21 and :44.21, inched clear turning for home and was 1 3/4 lengths clear of Talk Veuve to Me at the wire. Gas Station Sushi was third. “She seems to improve in every start,” said Steve Asmussen, who was recording his third victory in the race. “I made a few mistakes with her in the past, but we figured all of them out it seems. I saw during the middle of the race on the Big Board that she was well within herself and she carried herself even on the gallop out way in front.”
Pedigree Notes:
Mia Mischief is the fifth foal out of Greer Lynn, out of multiple stakes winner Roll Over Baby (Rollin On Over), also responsible for a slew of stakes caliber horses, including GSW Sing Baby Sing (Unbridled's Song), SW & GISP Value Plus (Unbridled's Song) and GSW Roll Hennessy Roll (Hennessy). Last term, the 12-year-old mare produced a filly by Cross Traffic (Unbridled's Song) and was bred back to Into Mischief this season.
