Roaring Lion (Kitten's Joy), a winner of the G2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge S. for Qatar Racing and John Gosden, will point toward next year's G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas. The $160,000 KEESEP yearling was only beaten a neck by Saxon Warrior (Ire) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) in Saturday's G1 Racing Post Trophy.
“I think we've finally got one,” David Redvers, racing manager for Qatar Racing told Racing Post, regarding the talented colt. “John [Gosden] said to me this morning he thinks we've a proper Guineas horse to dream about over the winter. He's putting on weight all the time and getting heavier and stronger with every run. A horse like that is probably going to be a mile and a quarter horse, tops, and he's clearly got the speed for a Guineas. It's really exciting.”
Reflecting on the runner-up performance that gave Saxon Warrior's trainer Aidan O'Brien a world record 26 Group 1 tallies in a single season, he said, “It was great to be part of history anyway, even if we were on the wrong end of it.”
