G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches winner Zenda (GB) (Zamindar), now better known as the dam of champion miler Kingman (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), is one of several high-profile Juddmonte mares to have foaled thus far this season, producing a colt by Frankel (GB) Feb. 23. Zenda also has a yearling colt by Frankel, and a 2-year-old filly named Present Tense (GB) from the first crop of Bated Breath (GB).
Juddmonte has a few first-crop Kingman foals of their own on the ground, including a colt out of All Time (GB) (Dansili {GB}), a winning full-sister to Group 1 winner Passage of Time (GB) and a half to G1 Falmouth S. winner Timepiece (GB) (Zamindar), born Jan. 22; a filly out of Exemplify (GB) (Dansili {GB}), a half-sister to Classic winner Special Duty (GB) (Hennessy), born Feb. 7; and a filly out of G1 Prix Marcel Boussac winner Proportional (GB) (Beat Hollow {GB}) born Feb. 22. Juddmonte sent 17 mares to Kingman last year and are set to send another 15 to its resident stallion this year. That group includes Kind (Ire) (Danehill), the dam of Frankel, who slipped to Kingman last year.
“We are thrilled by the Kingman foals we have seen so far and have received encouraging reports from breeders,” said Juddmonte's Simon Mockridge. “To date all foals that we are aware of are bay. It may be that Kingman turns out like his close relation Oasis Dream, who is a only able to sire bay or grey offspring.”
Other notable Juddmonte mares to have foaled include Group 1 winner and producer Banks Hill (GB) (Danehill), who produced a Lope De Vega (Ire) colt Jan. 28; six-time Group 1 winner Midday (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), who foaled her third Frankel offspring–a filly–Feb. 15; Hot Snap (GB) (Pivotal {GB}), who produced her second Frankel foal–a colt–Jan. 25; and Frankel's stakes-winning half-sister Joyeuse (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), who produced a Shamardal filly Jan. 20.
