Grand Armee (Aus) (Hennessy-Tambour {Aus}, by Marauding {NZ}), the winner of seven Group 1s for owner Alan Bell and trainer Gai Waterhouse, has died aged 18, according to published reports. The gelding was found dead in his box at Limitless Lodge, where he was a nanny to weanlings and yearlings, and it is believed he died of natural causes.

Bred by Newhaven Park, Grand Armee recorded his first win at the highest level in the 2003 Doncaster H. He would finish second in four Group 1s over the ensuing year before besting the 11-time Group 1 winner Lonhro (Aus) by six lengths in the 2004 G1 Queen Elizabeth S. Grand Armee kicked off the following spring with a win in the G1 George Main S. and later that campaign added the G1 Mackinnon S., and the following autumn added the G1 Chipping Norton S., G1 Ranvet S. and another Queen Elizabeth. He won 13 races and was placed 13 times from 31 starts and earned over A$5.3-million.
