A year after failing to meet her reserve and being led out unsold on a bid of $1.9 million, Embellish the Lace (4, Super Saver–Expanse, by Distant View), carrying her first foal by leading sire Uncle Mo, was gaveled down to representatives of the China Horse Club for $2.45 million Monday at Fasig-Tipton. Campaigned during her racing days by Alex and JoAnn Lieblong, Embellish the Lace celebrated her greatest hour when annexing the 2015 GI Alabama S. at Saratoga. A half-sister to GI Travers S. winner Afleet Express (Afleet Alex) and to MSW & GSP Reporting for Duty (Deputy Commander), Embellish the Lace (hip 129) hails from a distinguished female family including GSW Eye of the Tiger (American Chance), GISW Materiality (Afleet Alex) and GSW & GISP My Miss Sophia (Unbridled's Song). Embellish the Lace was consigned by Taylor Made. Including this purchase, China Horse Club had signed for four tickets for gross receipts of $5.5 million.
