Whitmore might be ranked lower in other places, but we like his consistency. He's never won beyond six furlongs and he's lost his last three, but he shows up. He was second in the GIII Southwest, second in the GII Rebel S. and third in the GI Arkansas Derby. For him, that might be as good as it gets, but how often have we seen a horse like this finish third or fourth at a big price? Whitmore gets Victor Espinoza, who is trying to become the first jockey in history to win three-straight editions of the Derby.
