Kiwi Karma (NZ) (Fast 'N' Famous {Aus}–Miss Purrfection {NZ}, by One Cool Cat), a three-time black-type winning filly who more than held her own against some of Singapore's top sprinters in 2015, has been retired from racing and will soon fly to Attunga Stud in the Hunter Valley to begin her stud career.

Bred by T E Luke and Waikato Stud, Kiwi Karma–formerly known as What's New Pussycat–defeated two-time champion Affleck (NZ) (Battle Paint) to win the 2014 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe for her first stakes success and added victories in the Singapore Three-Year-Old Sprint and CECF Singapore Prestige Classic before finishing a good fourth to Aerovelocity (NZ) (Pins {Aus}) in the final running of the G1 KrisFlyer International Sprint in 2015. She was an intended runner in the G1 Al Quoz Sprint this past March, but a Strangles outbreak at Kranji dashed those plans. Connections had considered options further afield, but ultimately took the decision to call it a career.

“She has raced hard as a 2-year-old and as a 3-year-old. She is the type of filly who always gives 101% and is very genuine,” said Zimbabwean trainer Michael Clements. “But that has eventually taken its toll on her. If we had pushed her for another season after she turns 5-year-old, we felt she would be racing below her best. I discussed with the owners (DSands Racing Stable) and retiring her at this stage was the best option. They have sold her to a breeder in Australia. Hopefully, she will be able to get out of quarantine quick enough to go to her first stallion.”

Produced by a half-sister to Australian GSW & New Zealand G1SP Cheiron (NZ) (Centaine {Aus}), Kiwi Karma is a half-sister to a colt by Ocean Park (NZ), who fetched NZ$210,000 from Star Thoroughbreds at the 2016 NZB Premier Yearling Sale, and to a colt from the penultimate crop of O'Reilly (NZ). Kiwi Karma heads to the breeding shed with a career mark of 22-8-5-3 for earnings of S$946,955.
