Top Lot Reserved For final Day

The final day of the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale saw the best kept till last as a fine colt by Foxwedge (Aus) (Fastnet Rock (Aus) stole the show. Offered by Eliza Park International, as agent for the Heinrich Bloodstock Unreserved Dispersal Sale, the colt, lot 2057 was knocked down to the powerful Hawkes Racing operation for a sales topping A$340,000. The well bred colt was one of eight yearlings to fetch a six figure sum throughout the day and John Hawkes commented,”He's a great individual with a nice head and good bone. He will make a nice horse. I've got a few Foxwedges now, I've been impressed with his first crop and look forward to seeing them race.” 

Earlier in the day a colt by High Chaparral (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) fetched A$175,000 when selling to a New South Wales client of Magic Millions. Lot 2045 was consigned by Amarina Farm and is closely related to stakes winners Vavasour (NZ) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}) and Vilanova (NZ) (Commands {Aus}). Further international flavor was added to the sale when a Singapore client purchased the days third top lot, a Sepoy (Aus) (Elusive Quality) colt offered by Newhaven Park for A$170,000. The sale rounded out with 428 lots sold at an average price of $26,151, boasting a gross of $11,192,800 – up on last year's sale which was conducted in a different format. According to Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox, “Competition continued to strengthen today, and to surpass last year's top price is very pleasing.” Cox added, “The vendors that brought good horses were well rewarded and at the end of the day that is the sign of a good sale.”
