Watershed, a half-brother to Footbridge (Street Cry {Ire}), GISP, $251,586, overcame a tardy beginning to become a 'TDN Rising Star' at first asking at the Spa. Backed at odds of 3-1, he was away slowly from his rail draw. With Joel rosario aboard, the bay was outsprinted through a sizzling opening quarter in :21.96. He began to roll once swung off the rail and guided five wide on the turn for home and he came charging down the center of the course with giant strides to win going away by an impressive four lengths. Fellow firster Come as You Are (Run Away and Hide), a half-brother to the speedy (Reneesgotzip), was second. Watershed's dam Thousand Islands (GB) was one of five stakes winners from the 56 foals from the only crop of the ill-fated Dubai Millennium (GB). Standouts Dubawi (Ire) and Echo of Light (GB) are also from that crop. Thousand Islands produced a colt by Bernardini in 2014. She was bred to Arch this spring. Darley associate John Ferguson purchased Watershed's second dam Minister Wife, heroine of the 1994 GII Demoiselle S. at the Big A, for $525,000 at the 2000 KEENOV Sale. Insight horse Super Tuscan (Super Saver) was scratched. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $49,800.
