Inheritance set an all-time OBS Sales record when purchased for $1.9 million at the April sale earlier this term and looked to be worth every bit of the investment with an astonishingly dominant graduation Oct. 4 at Belmont, becoming the newest ‘TDN Rising Star’. The gray, who campaigns for the same owner and trainer who annexed the previous day's GI Frizette S. with Nickname (Scat Daddy), finished a close second on debut at Saratoga beaten less than a length by the more-experienced Big World (Custom for Carlos) Sept. 6. Hammered down to 1-2 favoritism in this field full of intriguing pedigrees, Inheritance took control soon after the break and brought the field through an unopposed half-mile in :47.32. There was very little doubt about the outcome as she hit the far turn, and the filly widened to a runaway 16-length score, with longshot Tessio (Mineshaft) finishing second.
The winner, who previously sold for $335,000 as a KEESEP yearling, is out of a half to GISW Corinthian (Pulpit). Inheritance completes a recent trio of ‘Rising Stars’ for owner LNJ Foxwoods, which includes GIII Dogwood S. victress Super Majesty (Super Saver) and Saratoga maiden winner Constellation (Bellamy Road).
