Just a day after Win Win Win earned the first 'TDN Rising Star' of the freshman class with Nooni, he was joined by Complexity (by Maclean's Music) who picked up his fourth overall winner Friday and first 'Rising Star' when Complexion (Complexity-Rushin No Blushin, by Half Ours) dominated her debut at Aqueduct.
The half-sister to MGISW and sire Jack Christopher (Munnings), Complexion was a $400,000 Keeneland September Yearling buy for Arnmore Thoroughbreds last year. Gunned from her outside draw under John Velazquez, she was a length clear within the opening jumps and looked to have the field completely put away. Longshot Silver Circle (Munnings) outran her 29-1 odds to keep tabs on the 6-5 favorite from second but Complexion easily turned that rival back off the turn and opened up, winning easily in the end by a geared-down 6 1/2 lengths.
Breeder Castleton Lyons purchased dam Rushin No Blushin for $70,000 as a broodmare at Keeneland November in 2014 and the mare has seen four foals make the races of which GI Champagne S. and GI H. Allen Jerkens Memorial S. winner Jack Christopher is by far her most successful runner to date. Rushin No Blushin is herself a half-sister to MGISW and sire Street Boss (Street Cry {Ire}) and MGSP Habiboo (Unbridled's Song) who in turn produced both GSW Bellera (Bernardini) and GSW Life Imitates Art (More Than Ready). Complexion has a newborn half-brother by Munnings, making him a full-brother to Jack Christopher.
