Dar Re Mi had caught the attention of many notebookers when runner-up over an inadequate seven furlongs in a Newmarket maiden in November, and attracted heavy support before this return at even-money. Sent straight to the lead by Jimmy Fortune, the homebred was always in control and opened up on command inside the final quarter to record a scintillating seven-length success from Icon Project (Empire Maker). Albarouche (GB) (Sadler's Wells), the full-sister to Dragon Dancer (GB), stayed on encouragingly into third, a further length back. "She was a little round ball of a filly last spring and did nothing but grow, so we were careful with her," winning trainer John Gosden said. "She's a very tall, elegant filly now and has done very nicely through the winter. We think she'll come on for the race and, all being well, we'll point towards the G3 Tattersalls Musidora S. [at York May 14]. If everything goes right there, we'll start thinking about the [June 6] G1 Epsom Oaks. She's quite leggy, but very quick on her feet and is a ballet dancer, so she's got the balance for Epsom." The winner is a 1/2 to Dariyoun (Shahrastani), Ch. Imp. Older Horse-Sp, MSW & G1SP-Fr, SW & GSP-Sp, $408,811; Darazari (Ire) (Sadler's Wells), G1SW-Aus, GSW-Fr, GSP-HK, $596,122; Diaghilev (Ire) (Sadler's Wells), Ch.
