Lady Ivanka rated and pounced to capture her career debut at Saratoga Wednesday afternoon in ‘TDN Rising Star’ fashion. Showing a steady string of works downstate at Belmont dating back to early June, the bay was let go at odds of 7-1 and settled in fourth behind an opening quarter-mile in :22.31. Launching a wide rally on the turn, she collared pace-setting favorite Everybody Loves Me (Maclean’s Music) and moved clear to a convincing six-length victory. The final time for 5 1/2 furlongs was 1:05.77. The winner’s dam is a half to MSW & GISP Jet West (Western Fame), MSW & GSP Jetinto Houston (Houston), MSW & GISP Jetin Excess (In Excess {Ire}) and MSW Triumphant Flight (Chullo {Arg}). Lady Leftennant produced a colt by Tapiture this spring and was bred back to that sire.
Trainer Rudy Rodriguez and owner Michael Dubb have enjoyed previous success with daughters of Tiz Wonderful, teaming up to win this venue’s GI Spinaway S. in 2014 with Condo Commando and the GIII Tempted S. in 2012 with My Happy Face.
