Sunset Ridge demolished her competition to remain unbeaten in three starts and became the newest ‘TDN Rising Star’ Wednesday at Saratoga. Bet down to 1-5 favoritism in a compact field, the chestnut tracked the pace carved out by Silly Sister (Broken Vow) through an opening quarter-mile in :23.21, but could wait no longer and seized control into the turn as that rival faltered. Unchallenged thereafter, the sophomore coasted home 16 3/4 lengths in front of Moondance Joy (Catienus) under minimal encouragement, while Silly Sister completed the trifecta. The final time for seven furlongs was 1:24.18. A first-out winner sprinting 6 1/2 panels at Belmont Apr. 29, Sunset Ridge made it two-in-a-row with an 8 1/4-length romp traveling a mile in Elmont June 2.
