Ladies Day improved drastically second time out and crushed a good-looking field of maiden fillies that included the first foal out of 2011 Horse of the Year Havre de Grace (Saint Liam) en route to 'Rising Stardom' Sunday. A distant second at 32-1 behind ‘TDN Rising Star’ Runway Doll (Majestic Warrior) first out at Saratoga July 31, Ladies Day was let go at 8-1 as part of a Godolphin entry here. Stalking the pace outside in third through a :22.47 quarter, the dark bay sidled up to the frontrunners three deep nearing the top of the lane, took over in early stretch and shot clear by the eighth pole to score by six lengths. China Rider (Majestic Warrior) finished second. Heavenly Grace, the filly out of Havre de Grace, ran a good race to be third after starting slowly and getting squeezed between rivals in the lane. The winner’s dam is a half to GISW Bob and John (Seeking the Gold), while her second dam is GSW/GISP Minister’s Melody (Deputy Minister). Third dam My Song for You (Seattle Song) is a stakes-placed half to 1986’s GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile hero and Champion 2-year-old colt Capote (Seattle Slew). Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $61,600.
