Life’s Blessings capped a memorable day for trainer Bob Baffert, and joined her stablemates Arrogate (Unbridled’s Song) and Drefong (Gio Ponti) in being named a ‘TDN Rising Star’. Bet off the board down to 3-5 with a :58 2/5 bullet breeze from the gate Aug. 21 on display, the regally bred miss was sluggish from the blocks, but was pushed along up the rail by Flavien Prat to sit just behind the pacesetters into the bend. Charging through a wide-open seam at the head of the lane, the grey scampered clear from there to score by 4 1/2 easy lengths in 1:04.09, giving Prat his fourth winner of the day. Expensive Taste (Giant’s Causeway) tagged Soul Singer (Flatter) for second. The winner’s year-older half-brother Ten Blessings (Smart Strike) was named a ‘Rising Star’ for his successful unveiling for these connections at Santa Anita in February. He has not run since. The freakishly fast Indian Blessing produced a Misremembered colt last year, and a Pioneerof the Nile filly earlier this term. Her SW and MGSP dam Shameful (Flying Chevron) was also responsible for Baffert-trained GSW Roman Threat (Roman Ruler). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $36,000.
