Shackin Up was hammered down to 2-5 for this debut and burst out of the blocks under Jose Valdivia, Jr. to open up five lengths in the opening furlong. Bumping the margin up to a half-dozen through a :22.77 quarter, the chestnut filly rolled home unchallenged by seven lengths in :52.46 to become a ‘TDN Rising Star’. Shackin Up was a $30,000 Keeneland September yearling who sold for $160,000 at OBS March after breezing a furlong in :9 4/5 (video). She is out of a stakes winning dam and is a half to Chick Lang S. victor Meadowood. These are the same connections of last term’s GSW 2-year-old Cocked and Loaded (Colonel John).
