Donworth, heavily touted entering this debut with a solid-looking worktab at Palm Meadows on display, came through at 8-5 odds from an 8-1 morning line despite some tense moments. Away a bit sluggishly, the hulking dark bay tugged his way up the rail under Joel Rosario to challenge Sir Alfred (Munnings) down the backside. Forced to check out after things got tight inside of that rival, Donworth was relegated to about fourth along the bend while still traveling powerfully. He sliced through a seam in upper stretch, and ground down Sir Alfred to score by a promising neck. Money Changer (Exchange Rate) completed the two-three finish for trainer Todd Pletcher. The winner's dam was a $15,000 claim by trainer Brad Cox and KC Garrett Farm in 2008, and checked in second to champion Informed Decision (Monarchos) in the 2009 GI Humana Distaff S.
