Unbridled Juan, third on debut going six panels here Feb. 7, breezed a best-of-40 half-mile at Palm Meadows in :47 3/5 Mar. 2 and was sent off as the 3-1 second choice here. Bounced around in mid-pack early, the gray tracked from a two-wide fourth off of moderate opening fractions. Seizing command from heavily favored Wisecracker (Distorted Humor) approaching the far turn, Unbridled Juan effortlessly powered clear of that rival in the lane to win by seven lengths going away. Wisecracker, who was highly regarded after finishing second to next out allowance winner Khozan (Distorted Humor), finished 10 lengths clear of third-place finisher Seeking Alpha (Medaglia d'Oro). It was the third win on the card for jockey Luis Saez, who also won the GII Swale S. aboard Ready for Rye (City Zip). Ulysses (Street Cry {Ire}), a half-brother to MGISW Tizway (Tiznow), was bumped at the break and pressed the pace early, but began to fade at the half and was pulled up in the lane. Adena Springs also bred and raced Unbridleds Juan's three-time graded stakes winning dam Sugar Swirl, who produced a filly by Hat Trick (Jpn) in 2013 and a colt by Bernardini in 2014.
