Despite conditioner Todd Pletcher's high success rate with 2-year-old firsters, Trail Blaze was let go at 4-1 for this unveiling. He was away well and allowed to move up to pressure the pacesetter from the three-path as they hit the quarter pole. The dark bay displayed some greeness entering the stretch, but a left handed reminder from jockey Joel Rosario kept him steady as he was let loose to effortlessly blow by his competitors. Trail Blaze cruised home to a 4 3/4-length victory over the favored Endowment Manager (Master Command) and earned the status of J  “TDN Rising Star”  J in the process. The winner, a $130,000 KEESEP yearling, is a half sibling to Trendy Lady (Unbridled's Song), GSP, $199,299.
