Dreamcaster was touted by trainer Bob Baffert just minutes before stepping into the gate for this, and the first-time starter lived up to advance billing as the 6-5 pick. Eager early under Martin Garcia, the British-bred bay pulled her way to the front and set :22.50 and :45.20 fractions as longshot Pogonip (Street Sense) kept the pressure on. Dreamcaster began to get away from her rival leaving the quarter pole and leveled out nicely en route to a 2 1/4-length win. Pogonip held for second over the fast-closing Tap It Twice (Tapit). The winner's dam was acquired by Overbrook for $800,000 at KEENOV in 2006 when she was in foal to Empire Maker. The Youngs' operation sold the resulting colt for $425,000 at KEESEP in 2008. A year later, during the Overbrook dispersal, Winendynme--in foal to Medicean (GB)--brought a bid of $425,000 at KEENOV from Totem Thoroughbreds LLC. Her Storm Cat yearling filly was snapped up by Scott and Joe Ford's Westrock for $675,000 at KEESEP that year, and they also picked up this filly as a weanling for $250,000 at KEENOV. Winendynme has a yearling Medicean filly and produced a Street Cry (Ire) filly in May before being bred back to Harlan's Holiday. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $37,800.
