Gamble’s Ghost was away from the gate slowly but rallied to a debut victory in resounding fashion Friday at Woodbine, becoming the newest ‘TDN Rising Star’. Sent to post as the 3-1 second choice off a steady series of local works dating back to June, the dark bay trailed the field well behind the early tempo as First Girl (First Dude) cut out fractions of :22.66 and :45.42. The homebred gained ground skimming the rail on the far turn and drew clear readily en-route to a decisive seven-length tally over heavily favored Conquest Soprano (Super Saver). The homebred winner is a half to Purrfect Bluff (Lion Heart), SP, $368,944, and hails from the extended family of G1SW and champion Irish sprinter Bluebird (Storm Bird). Gambling Girl, a stakes winner at Woodbine in her own right, produced a colt by Hat Trick (Jpn) last year and has a weanling filly by Scat Daddy. She was bred back to Afleet Alex. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $30,827.
