The chestnut raced toward the back of the pack in the early stages as 5-1 Saratoga Russell (Trippi) blazed the way through fractions of :21.84 and :44.88. With Eddie Castro aboard, he began to rally on the turn for home and rolled past the pacesetter in the stretch to take it by 1 3/4 lengths.
