Bordeaux Bandit, a 1/2 to Noble Causeway (Giant's Causeway), GISP, $360,010, stumbled at the start of his Nov. 23 debut at Calder and had to settle for fourth. The second and third horses under the wire that afternoon came back to break their maidens, and this colt underlined that test as a key race with this impressive performance. Shedding the blinkers and adding a quarter mile for his second start, Bordeaux Bandit broke well and raced with the leaders down the backstretch. The $350,000 KEESEP yearling grabbed the lead as they straightened for home and opened up under a vigorous Cornelio Velasquez hand ride and powered away to a 5 1/2-length success. Juicy Point (Point Given) rallied for second, while 8-5 favorite You Better Believe (A.P. Indy) was steadied twice after breaking slowly, trailed the field around the turn and was eased during the stretch run. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $24,900.
