Eightfold Path is the first foal of France's former darling Divine Proportions (Kingmambo) and attracted enough of support at the tills to start this newcomers' event as the 19-5 second choice. The bay homebred broke sharply from the gate and raced under a tight hold at the head of affairs through the early stages. Maintaining a smooth rhythm throughout, he was nudged along to retain his advantage approaching the final furlong and cruised to the line under gentle coaxing to easily hold Ephemere (Fr) (Sevres Rose {Ire}) by a half-length. "Eightfold Path has done very well at home and I was hopeful he'd run a good race," revealed trainer Pascal Bary. "There's a lot of improvement to come, both physically and mentally, so, hopefully, he will be a nice horse for the future." Lifetime Record: 1 start, 1 win, €12,000.
