Taking her place in an open-looking maiden as the 6-1 joint-second favorite, Leocorno found herself towards the back of the pack early and was forced to wait passing halfway trapped behind rivals on the rail. Angled out for her run by Richard Mullen passing the quarter pole, the homebred produced a powerful surge to overwhelm Queen Eleanor (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}) inside the final 50 yards and score by 3/4 of a length. "She's very professional and has done it very well," her jockey commented. "She's got a lovely pedigree, and Sir Michael knows what he's doing with this family. She's a very nice filly for the future." Leocorno is a half-sister to Golan (Ire) (Spectrum {Ire}), MG1SW-GB, GSW-Fr & G1SP-Ire, $1,624,185; this year's G1 Epsom Derby runner-up Tartan Bearer (Ire) (Spectrum {Ire}), GSW & G1SP-GB, G1SP-Ire, $990,086; and Gift Range (Ire) (Spectrum {Ire}), GSP-Ire & SP-Fr.
