Tatts February Kicks Off Sale Season

The Tattersalls 2015 sale calendar gets underway today with the one-day February Sale at Park Paddocks in Newmarket. A total of 307 horses have been catalogued for the mixed sale, including more than 60 lots from Darley and its various trainers. Among the standouts under the Darley banner are the 3-year-old filly Elle Shade (GB) (Shamardal) from the yard of John Gosden. Offered as lot 143, Elle Shade is an unraced daughter of Group 1 winner Elle Danzig (Ger) (Roi Danzig), and therefore a full-sister to multiple German Group 3 winner Elle Shadow (Ire) and a half to stakes winners El Comodin (Ire) (Monsun {Ger}) and Elle Gala (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Lot 81 is the Group 3-placed Naseem Sea (Ire) (Bahri), carrying her second foal, by Helmet (Aus); Lot 79 is Two Pass (Ire) (Mtoto {GB}), a daughter of Group 1 winner Pass the Peace (GB) and a half-sister to Group 1 winner Embassy (GB) and full to Group 2 winner Tarfshi (GB) in foal to Dream Ahead; and Lot 80 is Storming Sioux (GB) (Storming Home {GB}), a half-sister to Group 1 winner Best of the Bests (Ire) in foal to Farhh (GB).

Juddmonte offer a draft of 15, comprised of seven fillies and mares and eight colts and geldings. The fillies include close relations to Danehill, Zafonic and Zamindar (GB). Juddmonte's mare draft includes Postale (GB) (Zamindar) (lot 67), a half-sister to G1 Prix Jean Prat winner Mutual Trust (GB) (Cacique {Ire}) who is in foal to Cacique and Winter Bloom (Aptitude) (lot 66), a half-sister to Group 3 winner Phoenix Tower in foal to Champs Elysees (GB).

The Tattersalls February sale has enjoyed a strong year through its graduates, which included the GI Beverley D. S. winner Euro Charline (GB) (Myboycharlie {Ire}), who was purchased as a weanling at the sale for 800 guineas. Group 1 winners Together Forever (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Tiggy Wiggy (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) are out of mares purchased at Tattersalls February.

“The Tattersalls February Sale has been a great source of quality breeding stock in its short history, illustrated perfectly by the Group 1 success of Together Forever and Tiggy Wiggy in 2014,” said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony. “This year's renewal looks a typically commercial catalogue with plenty to attract both domestic and international buyers to Park Paddocks. As usual the sale will be preceded by the ever popular TBA Stallion Parade, which starts at 10 a.m. followed immediately by the sale.”
