Wong told the TDN he has appealed the ruling which could now go before the Federal Trade Commission, head to federal court, or both. Trainer John Pimental has been handed a 15-month suspension and a fine of $10,000 for possession of banned thyroid medication, Thyro-L. Though Pimental had a prescription to administer the drug to his pony, the possession of a banned substance is classed an anti-doping rule violation under HISA.
