Henry Cecil Open Weekend on Sept. 18-19

The Henry Cecil Open Weekend, held in Newmarket from Sept. 18-19, will allow visitors the chance to see behind the scenes at British horseracing's headquarters and visit 30 training yards. All of the activities raise money for the charities Racing Welfare, Newmarket Pony Academy and a soon to be announced community project. 2021 Alberta Thoroughbred Breed Improvement Program Announced

Horse Racing Alberta has released the details of the 2021 Thoroughbred Breed Improvement Program. The total Thoroughbred allocation for breeders, owners and stallion owners has been increased to $1,581,465 for this season. Breeders' will share in $340,233 available to breeders of horses of all ages foaled in Alberta placing win, place and show in all sanctioned races in Alberta having a minimum $7,000 purse and where entered at or above a minimum $6,250 claiming price. Indiana Grand Racing & Casino received approval for 2021 racing dates Thursday at the monthly Indiana Horse Racing Commission (IHRC) meeting. The schedule will offer 120 days of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing beginning Tuesday, Apr. 13 and running through Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021. The 2020 Japan Racing Horse Association (JRHA) Select Sale catalogue, featuring 13 yearlings from the penultimate crop of the late Deep Impact (Jpn), was released on Monday. The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance issued its second round of grant checks early in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants totaled $1.7 million.
