Edited Press Release Forty-two Thoroughbred aftercare organizations have been awarded accreditation for 2022, including one that received accreditation for the first time, according to a press release from the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. Real Rider Cup Triples Previous Fundraising Record

Following a record-setting turnout in Lexington this past July, the 63 entered riders that have taken part in the Real Rider Cup have raised better than $160,000 this year, a number that rises to $173,000 when corporate sponsors are factored in. TAA Launches Second Annual Calendar Photo Contest

The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) Calendar Photo Contest is now open for submissions. The TAA is seeking photos of Thoroughbreds at a TAA-accredited organization or of Thoroughbreds who have been adopted from a TAA-accredited organization. MHBA Creates Aftercare Account for Maryland-Breds

The Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA) has announced the creation of an aftercare account that will direct funds to support Maryland-bred racehorses as they are retired and preparing for their second career. The account, called BackStop, will be funded by extracting a $25 fee from each Maryland-bred registration submitted. BackStop funds will not replace or relieve the responsibility of the owner, breeder or trainer to arrange for aftercare for their retirees. Ohio HBPA Donates To New Vocations

New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program announced that it has received a $75,000 donation from the Ohio Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association. The donation will help support aftercare efforts at the New Vocations facility in Medina, Ohio, which focuses on rehabbing, retraining and rehoming Thoroughbred racehorses retiring from racetracks in the state.
