TAA Awards $3.7M to Accredited Organizations

A total of $3.7 million will be awarded as grants to 82 accredited Thoroughbred aftercare organizations, the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance announced Thursday. Since inception in 2012, the TAA has now awarded more than $24.5 million in grants to accredited Thoroughbred aftercare organizations. The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance has awarded accreditation to 29 Thoroughbred aftercare organizations, it was announced Thursday. The 29 organizations include 25 previously accredited organizations and four that received accreditation for the first time. The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, the only accrediting body in Thoroughbred aftercare, now has a network of 82 organizations with approximately 180 facilities in North America. The Deputy Rescued from TX Kill Pen

The Deputy (Ire) (Petardia {GB}), winner of the 2000 GI Santa Anita Derby and second choice in that year's GI Kentucky Derby, was rescued from a kill pen in Texas earlier this month by his old connections, Barry Irwin's Team Valor, Gary Barber and trainer Jenine Sahadi.
