Sussex Hero A New Recruit For Nunnery

The 2020 G1 Sussex S. was arguably one of the best races of last year's flat season and the victor, Mohaather (GB) (Showcasing {GB}), won it in such a fashion that he quickly become a talking horse for the year. John Gosden was on Monday named champion flat trainer for the third year running and fifth time overall. Gosden's runners earned £3,114,226 on the racecourse in 2020, more than £650,000 ahead of Aidan O'Brien. Elarqam, Yafta Retired to Haras de Saint Arnoult

MGSW Elarqam (GB) (Frankel {GB}-Attraction {GB}, by Efisio {GB}), who ran third in the G1 Juddmonte International in 2019 for Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell, has been retired and will stand at Haras de Saint Arnoult in partnership with Shadwell next year. Battaash (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) has been scratched from Sunday's G1 Prix de l'Abbaye due to the heavy ground and could instead be re-routed to the Breeders' Cup on Nov. 7 at Keeneland. Four-time highweighted Muhtathir (GB) (Elmaamul-Majmu, by Al Nasr {Fr}), who won twice at the highest level for Godolphin, has passed away from the infirmities of old age, Shadwell Stud announced on Tuesday.
