Zoffany's Jayarebe Digs Deep for Hampton Court Triumph

Iraj Parvizi's Listed Dee Stakes third Jayarebe (Fr) (Zoffany {Ire}--Alakhana {Fr}, by Dalakhani {Ire}), who made an impressive black-type breakthrough in April's Listed Feilden Stakes, bounced back in style to secure a career high in Thursday's G3 Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot. Jayarebe broke smartly from the outside gate, but was trapped wide in a prominent position before accepting a tow in a share of third. Looming large when taking closer order off the home turn, the 7-1 chance hit the front passing the quarter-mile marker and was driven...

Blue Point's Rosallion Best In The St James's Palace

There were three Guineas heroes lined up for Tuesday's G1 St James's Palace S. and ultimately it was the winner of the Irish Classic in Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum's Rosallion (Ire) (Blue Point {Ire}--Rosaline {Ire}, by New Approach {Ire}) who came away from Royal Ascot with the bragging rights. If his Curragh victory was a case of consolation following his second to Notable Speech (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) at Newmarket, this was all about affirmation as the well-supported 5-2 second favourite readily reversed the 2,000 Guineas form and put the...

Irish 2,000 Guineas Glory For Blue Point's Rosallion

Confirming the serious nature of the G1 2,000 Guineas form, Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum's Newmarket runner-up Rosallion (Ire) (Blue Point {Ire}--Rosaline {Ire}, by New Approach {Ire}) went one better to lead a Richard Hannon one-two in Saturday's G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas at The Curragh. Held up in mid-division by Sean Levey with the pace steady, the 10-11 favourite began his delivery two out as the stable's Haatem (Ire) (Phoenix Of Spain {Ire}) took control and his wilting run proved perfectly-timed. Getting the yard's bragging rights only in the...

Phoenix Of Spain's Haatem Powers To Impressive Craven Triumph

Sheikh Abdullah Almalek Alsabah's battle-hardened Haatem (Ire) (Phoenix Of Spain {Ire}--Hard Walnut {Ire}, by Cape Cross {Ire}) had twice chased home City Of Troy (Justify) in juvenile pattern races last term and, while tipping his hat to that old foe, threw down a Classic marker of his own with a hugely impressive 3 1/2-length triumph in Thursday's one-mile G3 bet365 Craven S. at Newmarket. The Richard Hannon trainee broke on the front end and was restrained to accept a tow in an overall third before inching into second passing halfway....

Zoffany's Jayarebe Powers to Feilden Triumph at HQ

Iraj Parvizi's Jayarebe (Fr) (Zoffany {Ire}--Alakhana {Fr}, by Dalakhani {Ire}) backed up an Aug. 25 debut win at Newmarket's summer venue with a sixth in ParisLongchamp's G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere last time and stepped forward to notch an impressive success on sophomore return in Wednesday's Listed bet365 Feilden S. back at HQ. The 11-1 chance raced on the front end after an alert getaway and settled into a rhythm stalking the pace in close-up second for the most part. Shaken up to regain an edge passing the quarter-mile marker, he...

Blue Point's Rosallion Brilliant In The Lagardere

Beautiful sunshine bathed ParisLongchamp on its biggest day and Sunday's G1 Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere proved a fitting opener to the action with Rosallion (Ire) (Blue Point {Ire}--Rosaline {Ire}, by New Approach {Ire}) dominating the closing stages of this up-to-scratch renewal. Brilliant in Ascot's Listed Pat Eddery S. in July but disappointing when third in the G2 Champagne S. at Doncaster last month, Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum's homebred was truly on song here to provide Sean Levey with all the good vibrations in this qualifier for the GI...

Dark Angel's Heredia On Top In The Atalanta

St Albans Bloodstock's 4-year-old homebred filly Heredia (GB) (Dark Angel {Ire}--Nakuti {Ire}, by Mastercraftsman {Ire}) took seven attempts to make a stakes breakthrough, doing so in last month's Listed Dick Hern Fillies' S. at Haydock, and continued her belated rise up the ladder with a career high in Saturday's G3 Virgin Bet Atalanta S. at Sandown. The Richard Hannon trainee settled into a smooth rhythm after breaking from the outside stall and raced in rear for most of this one-mile test. Making eyecatching headway out wide once into the straight,...

Siyouni's Witch Hunter Springs A Surprise In The Hungerford

Having caused a 50-1 shock in Royal Ascot's Buckingham Palace H., William Stobart's Witch Hunter (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) was at it again on Saturday as he swooped to conquer in Newbury's seven-furlong G2 Hungerford S. Tried over six furlongs after his Royal success, the Richard Hannon-trained gelding had found the action a touch too quick when third in Newcastle's G3 Chipchase S. before failing to handle Chester's tight track when third in the Listed City Plate S. and running fourth over a mile in Pontefract's Listed Pomfret S. Switched off...

BHA Clears Levey After 'Non-Negative' Saliva Test At Sandown

The British Horseracing Authority has accepted Sean Levey took no prohibited substance following a "non-negative" saliva test at Sandown last year, which was later deemed negative by a laboratory. Levey was stood down by the raceday stewards on September 14 when an instant saliva test produced a positive result for amphetamine. The Group 1-winning rider requested a urine test within 24 hours and when that returned negative, he was allowed to resume riding. However, Levey was forced to miss the closing night of the Racing League, for which he was...
