Santa Anita Park's 2022-23 Winter/Spring Stakes Schedule will offer a total of 93 stakes, 10 of them Grade I events, including  Apr. 8 showcasing the GI $750,000 Runhappy Santa Anita Derby, and 58 graded races beginning with the track's traditional opener on Monday, Dec. 26 through closing day, June 18. Hollendorfer Files Motion for Preliminary Injunction to Race at Santa Anita

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, barred from The Stronach Group (TSG)-owned facilities since June of 2019, has filed a motion for preliminary injunction to be able to enter and race horses under his name at Santa Anita for the upcoming 2021-2022 winter/spring meet--the latest salvo in an ongoing legal feud between the Hall of Fame trainer and various corporate entities under TSG umbrella. The card for the 84th GI Runhappy Santa Anita Derby produced all-sources pari-mutuel handle of $24,282,400 Saturday. This was the largest Santa Anita Derby day handle since 2007. Santa Anita Park was forced to close indefinitely Friday--making its announcement shortly before post time--on orders of the Los Angeles County Health Department in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Report: Arcadia Receives Over $1.5M from Santa Anita

The city of Arcadia receives over $1.5-million in annual revenue from Santa Anita Park, according to a report from Keyser Marston Associates, which was commissioned for the city's Economic Development Division. Over the next five years, the racetrack is estimated to generate $7.5-million in sales tax, pari-mutuel revenue and property tax. According to the report, which was submitted in the fourth quarter of 2019, Santa Anita Park is responsible for 1,160 jobs annually.
