Canterbury Park Proposes 51-Day Meet For '25

Canterbury Park is proposing a 51-day Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse meet for 2025 that will trim three dates off the schedule that was conducted at the Minnesota track in 2024 while also including a nine-day break in the middle of next year's season. The schedule, which will be up for approval at the December meeting of the Minnesota Racing Commission, will run from Saturday, May 24 through Saturday, Sept. 20, beginning one week later and concluding one week earlier than this past season. Sampson Named Jockeys and Jeans Person of the Year

Randy Sampson, CEO and Chairman of Canterbury Park, has been named Jockeys and Jeans 2022 Person of the Year. Sampson is a member of the Jockeys and Jeans organizing committee and has been helpful in advising it on track relations and fundraising. Canterbury Park, the track he and his family own in Shakopee, MN, hosted the 2018 Jockeys and Jeans Fundraiser, raising $268,000. Canterbury Furloughs 850 Workers

Canterbury Park has furloughed approximately 850 employees as a result of their temporary closure due to the coronavirus, and has subjected key personnel to salary reductions, according to a statement from the Canterbury Park Holding Corporation Wednesday.
