Amateur rider Lauren Keen-Hawkins sustained a major head injury in a fall at Worcester on Sunday and has been hospitalised in Birmingham, the Injured Jockeys Fund (IJF) announced on Monday. The rider was aboard trainer Kim Bailey's Faerie Cutlass (GB) (Black Sam Bellamy {Ire}) in the last race of the day, a 2 1/2-mile handicap hurdle and was dislodged three flights from the winning post. Group 1-Winning Jockey Kota Fujioka Succumbs To Injuries From Race Fall

Japanese jockey Kota Fujioka has died from injuries sustained in an Apr. 6 race fall, the Japanese Racing Association (JRA) announced on Thursday. The 35-year-old Group 1-winning rider was dislodged from his horse during the seventh race at Hanshin and sustained head and chest injuries. He never regained consciousness his brother revealed on Wednesday to NetKeiba. A Gofundme fundraiser for the family of the late Australian jockey Dean Holland was launched within 24 hours of the jockey's death and, at the time of writing, it has raised over A$500,000 for Holland's wife Lucy, and their four children. The page was created by Tony Ottobre in Victoria, who made a personal donation of A$100,000, and overnight and into Tuesday it had attracted over 2000 donations.
