Oaklawn Cancels Racing Week

After canceling its stakes-filled Presidents' Day Weekend cards due to inclement weather last week, Oaklawn Park has once again canceled racing for this coming week, which totals four lost days of racing from Thursday, Feb. 18 through Sunday, Feb. 21. NYRA to Reinstitute Fair Hill & Oaklawn Ship & Win Bonuses

The New York Racing Association (NYRA) announced Saturday that it will once again offer "Ship and Win" incentives for horses coming from Fair Hill Training Center or Oaklawn Park to race at Aqueduct or Belmont. Oaklawn Cancels Friday's Card

Due to the frigid temperatures and out of concern for the safety of its equine athletes and jockeys, Oaklawn has received permission to cancel Friday's nine-race card. Oaklawn had already canceled the Saturday-Monday cards based on the weather forecast and rescheduled three graded stakes--the GIII Bayakoa S., GIII Razorback S. and GIII Southwest S.--to Saturday, Feb. 20. Villafranco Suspended for Caffeine Positives at Oaklawn

Two winners and two second-place horses who subsequently tested positive for caffeine at Oaklawn Park back in February have been disqualified from their placings and purses, and the trainer of all four, Federico Villafranco, will be suspended for the first 30 days of the Oaklawn Park meet under the Arkansas Racing Commission (ARC)'s "absolute insurer" rule.
