10 Industry Groups Pledge Funding for AAEP Biometric Sensor Research Project

Ten Thoroughbred industry and charitable organizations have pledged funding for the American Association of Equine Practitioners' wearable biometric sensor research project. Six sensor manufacturers have been selected to participate in the year-long study. Wearable biometric sensors, which have shown promise as an early warning system for identifying racehorses at increased risk of musculoskeletal injury, are designed to capture data on a horse's movement patterns during high-speed events. Oak Tree To Team With Del Mar To Honor Hirsch Aug. 3

The Oak Tree Racing Association and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will partner this summer for a special day Aug. 3 to honor the late Clement L. Hirsch, who will be inducted this year into racing's Hall of Fame in the Pillars of the Turf category, the racetrack said in a release on Thursday. Santa Anita to Honor Chillingworth With Stake During Autumn Meet

Sherwood Chillingworth, the longtime director and executive vice president of the Oak Tree Racing Association who passed away last October at 93, will be honored with The Chillingworth S.-formerly the LA Woman S.--to be contested during Santa Anita's Autumn season.
