LEXINGTON, KY - The Keeneland September Yearling Sale continued ahead of its 2023 edition as Book 3 concluded Sunday night with a colt by Maxfield leading the way when selling for $575,000. Through the two Book 3 sessions, 526 yearlings sold through the ring for a gross of $83,880,000. A colt by Nyquist (hip 1114) became the second seven-figure yearling of the session when selling for $1.2 million to John Stewart's Resolute Bloodstock late in the day Thursday at Keeneland. Out of an unraced full-sister to Sidney's Candy (Candy Ride {Arg}), the yearling was bred by County Line Farm and was consigned by Indian Creek. The Kentucky Derby winner was also the sire of the day's other million-dollar yearling, a $1.3 million colt consigned by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services.  

A colt by Nyquist (hip 984) became the first of Thursday's session to break seven figures when selling for $1.3 million. WinStar Farm's Elliott Walden signed the ticket on the yearling in the names of Maverick Racing, CHC, Inc. and Siena Farm. The bay was consigned by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services. A half-sister to champion and top young sire Nyquist brought $1.2 million to kick off the second session of the Keeneland September yearling sale early Tuesday afternoon when selling to AMO Racing USA. The chestnut filly, hip 206, is by Curlin and out of the winning Seeking Gabrielle (Forestry). She was consigned by Hinkle Farms, who also bred her. A Feb. 13 foal, she's from the family of GISW Sahara Sky (Pleasant Tap). Hinkle bought her dam for $100,000 at the 2013 Keeneland November sale.

A colt by Nyquist (hip 82) joined the million-dollar parade at Keeneland Monday when selling for $1.15 million. SF Bloodstock's Tom Ryan signed the ticket on the bay yearling, who is out of Impasse (Quality Road). The mare is a daughter of Tempus Fugit (Alphabet Soup) and was consigned by and bred by Candy Meadows.
