Win-Win For Newsells As Waldlied Returns At 2.2 Million

By Emma Berry and Chris McGrath NEWMARKET, UK--The dissolution of a successful partnership and formation of a new powerful allegiance by Graham Smith-Bernal led to Waldlied (GB) (New Approach {Ire}), the Group 2-winning sibling to Arc winner Waldgeist (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), heading a stellar list at the Tattersalls December Mares' Sale at 2,200,000gns.  A solidly stacked session, which included Juddmonte fillies for the first time on the Tuesday of the sale, soared way above last year's returns. The Weekly Wrap: In The Eye Of The Sales Storm

The lungs have been filled and we go again. Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale kicks off on Monday, launching another six days of activity at Park Paddocks. If that action is anywhere near as frenetic as it was during Book 1, then there will be plenty of happy breeders and vendors in Newmarket this week. In a fashion particularly seen at elite sales, Book 1 was perhaps a little slowly into stride last Tuesday, as buyers and consignors alike tried to get a handle on the market....
