The highest-rated son of Showcasing, Mohaather covered 146 mares this year. Tom Pennington, nominations and marketing manager at Shadwell, said, "We've taken the decision to reduce Mohaather's fee for 2022 in recognition of the fact that there is a significant premium placed upon first-season sires in the commercial market, and that stallions entering their second year...

Value Sires Part I: The Newcomers

The calendar has turned at last, with likely many more than usual looking for a fresh start in a new year. But isn't that the point? Those made of thick enough stuff to be involved in the breeding and...

TDN: Who have you identified as a first-year stallion at an appealing opening fee? CB: Pinatubo (Ire) was a top-class 2-year-old and his introductory fee of £35,000 is probably very fair compared to where similar horses have started off over the years. Shamardal is the sire of Lope De Vega (Ire) and he comes from the female...

Showcasing's Mohaather Impressive In the Summer Mile

For a long time denied a fair crack in the luck department, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's Mohaather (GB) (Showcasing {GB}) made up for much of the lost time when rewarding market confidence in style in Ascot's G2 Betfred Summer Mile on Saturday. Badly hampered and finishing full of running when seventh in the G1 Queen Anne S. on the straight track at the Royal meeting June 16, the 2-1 favourite was a touch free early for Dane O'Neill with his rider at pains to restrain his enthusiasm halfway down the...
