Tours of The National Stud will begin again from Feb. 18 through Discover Newmarket. Visitors will be able to view new stallion Lope Y Fernandez (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}), as well as Time Test (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and Aclaim (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}). The 90-minute behind-the-scenes tour will allow visitors to hear about the history of the stud and the work that goes into producing future champions. A five-episode educational video series on essential care for thoroughbreds has been launched on Breeders' Day at Sandown Park by the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association. The goal is to raise awareness of the high standards of welfare in the sector, while also providing guidelines on good practice. A Kentucky-based study that links foal growth measurements and radiographic findings to sales and racing performance has yielded intriguing findings in its just-completed pilot phase. Researchers now want to go global with it, and are seeking the help of Thoroughbred breeders worldwide to deepen the data pool.
