Supplements Added to Texas 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale

Ten 2-year-olds have been supplemented to the catalog for the 2022 Texas 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale. The Texas Thoroughbred Association's 2022 Texas Summer Yearling Sale will be held Aug. 29, the TTA announced Monday. Lone Star Announces EHV-1 Measures

Officials at Lone Star Park have announced that horses stabled at Fonner Park in Nebraska and Parx Racing, each of which is being impacted by EHV-1 positives, will not be allowed to participate at the Dallas-area oval until further notice. Additionally, the track is continuing to require that all horses admitted to the stable area have a current (i.e. within 90 days) FDA-approved EHV-1 vaccine or booster. Vaccine information must be noted on the certificate for admittance. Horsepeople are encouraged to contact the Lone Star racing office for further information.

Dooley Named Track Announcer at Horseshoe Indianapolis

John G. Dooley, a fixture in the announcer's box at numerous Midwest tracks, has been tabbed to replace Bill Downes as the voice of racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis Race Course, the former Indiana Grand Racecourse. Lone Star Park's 2022 Thoroughbred racing season will begin Apr. 28 and, with 48 live racing days, will conclude July 24. The season will include 21 stakes worth a combined  $2,825,000--a $600,000 increase from the 2021 stakes schedule. Texas Summer Yearling Sale Posts Across-the-Board Gains

Monday's Texas Summer Yearling and Horses of Racing Age Sale at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie recorded sizable increases in gross sales, average and median with a Texas-bred colt by Too Much Bling topping the auction at $175,000. A total of 228 yearlings went through the ring with 176 selling for $3,219,600, a 138.9% percent increase from last year when 106 of 137 sold for $1,347,700. The Texas Thoroughbred Association stakes series will now include a TTA Derby and Oaks, it was announced Tuesday. Scott Wells to Retire from Remington and Lone Star

Remington Park and Lone Star Park president and general manager Scott Wells will retire from his position this fall. Wells was on staff at Remington Park for three years beginning in 1990 soon after the OKC track first opened for live racing in 1988. Wells returned to Remington to his present position in 2005 and has directed operations at the track since then. He assumed the role of president and general manager at Lone Star Park in 2013.
