New BHA Policy To Allow Surface Switch On Raceday

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) announced a new policy on Tuesday which will permit an on-the-day switch between Flat turf and all-weather tracks where the original racing surface is deemed unraceable and the fixture would otherwise need to be abandoned. The policy will apply where a change of surface may be possible on the day of the fixture due to a deterioration in the ground conditions, when horses, participants and paying customers will have already arrived at or be travelling to the racecourse. Lingfield Adds Additional Fixture for Thursday

An additional afternoon All-Weather fixture has been added at Lingfield for Thursday, Oct. 26, the BHA announced on Monday. The addition is an eight-race card, with the ability to divide into nine races. Entries will close by 12 p.m. on Tuesday, with declarations to be made by 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Jockey bookings for Thursday's meeting at Wolverhampton have been extended to Wednesday in light of this additional fixture.

Lingfield's Summer Fixtures Transferred To All-Weather

There will be no turf fixtures at Lingfield Park Racecourse this season between June 4 and Sept. 10 while major drainage work is undertaken at the track.
