Extending the activity that has been building through earlier sessions, the eighth day of selling at the Keeneland November Sale offered more of the same as witnessed by gross receipts closing at over $184.6 million (through the ring), well ahead of the $173,925,300 sold through this point in 2023. Showing continued overall strength through the middle of the market, Keeneland's seventh day of the November Sale extended the upward trend that it had shown through much of the first six days of selling. At the conclusion of Monday's session, gross sales (through the ring) reached $181,460,500, surpassing last year's gross of $176.5 million for the entire nine-day run. Highlighting Monday's action, a weanling colt by Upstart (Hip 2680) drew a session-topping $155,000 bid from Margaret Duprey's Cherry Knoll Farm. Denali Stud-consigned Walkathon (Twirling Candy) sold Tuesday at the first session of the Keeneland November sale to Emmanuel de Seroux for $1.5 million. Sold as a racing or broodmare prospect, the 5-year-old bay is a multiple graded winner who is out of GSW Walkabout (Stroll), a half-sister to GI Breeders' Cup Classic winner Fort Larned (E Dubai). Walkathon was bred by Whitham Thoroughbreds, who campaigned her third dam, two-time champion Bayakoa (Arg). De Seroux purchased Hip 101 for Japan's Grand Stud.

With the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale just minutes old, multiple graded winner Midnight Memories (Mastery) became the nine-day auction's first seven-figure offering when selling for $1.45 million to Katsumi Yoshida. The 5-year-old mare, in foal to Curlin, was consigned by Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa. She was bred by Mike Pegram, Paul Weitman and Karl Watson and is a daughter of graded winner Tiz Midnight (Midnight Lute). Keeneland has supplemented nine horses--including Diva Delite (Repent), dam of champion and $13.9 million earner Midnight Bisou, and Expo Gold (Johannesburg), dam of champion and $2-million earner Swiss Skydiver--to Book 1 of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Both Diva Delite and Expo Gold are in foal to Uncle Mo, and both are consigned by Hunter Valley Farm, agent. MGSW Shotgun Hottie (Gun Runner--Re Entry, by Malibu Moon) has been cataloged to Book 1 of its November Breeding Stock Sale, which will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5.
