Jamie Moore Forced To Retire On Medical Advice

Jamie Moore, who was aboard Sire De Grugy (Fr) (My Risk {Fr}) when he won the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, has announced his retirement from the saddle on medical advice from a fall sustained last autumn. A fall at Lingfield in November resulted in fractured vertebra, broken ribs, and a broken nose for Moore, who hangs up his boots after a 22-year career. Injured jockey Josh Moore is beginning to show some improvement, according to a statement from the Injured Jockeys Fund on Saturday. The 30-year-old sustained multiple injuries after falling from Gleno (Ire) (Ask {GB}) in a handicap chase at Haydock Park on Apr. 16. The IJF statement read: "Josh Moore remains in Critical Care at Aintree Hospital following injuries sustained at Haydock Park Racecourse on Saturday, Apr. 16. Josh Moore In Critical Care Unit

National Hunt jockey Josh Moore remains in the critical care unit at Aintree University Hospital following a fall at Haydock on Saturday. Moore sustained serious injuries, including a broken femur, punctured lung, broken ribs and damage to his lower back, when his mount Gleno (Ire), trained by the jockey's father Gary, fell during a steeplechase. Gleno was unhurt.
