Nominations Open for Irish Tbred Industry Employee Awards

Nominations are open through Aug. 15 for the Irish Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards--sponsored by Godolphin, formerly known as the Irish Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards. The awards have been reshaped and rebranded and the categories have been simplified and replaced with eight Irish Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards which all nominees are eligible for. The Irish Racing Excellence Award winner will be selected from the eight Irish Thoroughbred Industry Employee Award winners. In addition, the Racecourse Award will also be selected. IRE Incentive Scheme Expanded

The IRE Incentive scheme, an initiative designed to stimulate and fortify Irish Thoroughbred breeding, racing and sales, will expand to include over 200 races in Ireland and Britain in 2022, according to Horse Racing Ireland (HRI). The IRE Incentive scheme awards a bonus of €10,000 to owners of Irish-bred winners of selected races across the Irish and British Flat and National Hunt programmes, to be spent on Irish-breds at Irish sales. HRI Industry Education and Training Survey Results Announced

The education and training survey results, which 699 people participated in from Nov. 4-Dec. 16, 2019, were announced by Horse Racing Ireland on Tuesday. The main challenges of all survey participants-147 employers, 482 employees and 47 students-were financial and getting time off for additional training. Other issues for employees are work hours and low income, while for employers, set-up costs and staff shortages were problems.
